What is true health?
Health may be defined as the unified harmony and balance of a whole person, including body, mind, and spirit. To maintain an optimum level of health and well being, we have to understand the principles of a health-promotional lifestyle and be empowered to implement these principles in a practical and effective way.
Disease is ultimately the impaired functioning of individual cells that leads to organ dysfunction only when enough cells of a particular organ have been affected. Therefore it is at the level of cellular function that disease begins, where it can be best prevented and the most effective place for it to be treated.
At this most fundamental level, what are the basic causes of cellular dysfunction? It is a result of a combination of either stress, nutritional deficiency or toxicity. Stress involves primarily the interpretation or beliefs we hold regarding what is happening to us, deficiency relates to vital nutritional factors that are insufficient for optimum cell function and toxicity refers to poisonous elements that interfere with proper cellular biochemistry.
