He has been honored with the Japan Academy of Sciences Award, the John Adams Fleming Award of the American Geophysical Union, and in 2003, the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold and Silver Star, was conferred on him by the Emperor of Japan.

Richard Lindzen was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1977 and is a professor at MIT. He is rather well known for claiming that "There's no consensus on global warming."
