Former Deputy Undersecretary of Defense and Journalist

As U.S. News & World Report's "Washington Whispers" column labeled him, Jed Babbin is an "old tough guy columnist" who served as a Deputy Undersecretary of Defense in the first Bush administration. He has been an outspoken critic of Clinton Administration defense and foreign policy in his frequent speeches and in his writing.

Mr. Babbin's three decades of involvement in politics and the military provides his well-regarded insight into subjects ranging from military operations and technology to international politics. He began his "Loose Canons" column in White House Weekly in the early 1990s and continued it in The American Spectator online magazine in 2001. Mr. Babbin is also the author of Legacy of Valor, a novel about the special forces in the Clinton era. He appears frequently as a "talking warhead" on the Fox News Channel, analyzing issues of national defense, the war on terror, and geopolitics. Mr. Babbin's commentary appears often on the op-ed page of The Washington Times, and in his weekly "Loose Canons" column that now appears in the American Prowler online magazine.
