
Raised in the impoverished South side of Chicago, Dr. Gray defied the odds and became a self-made millionaire by the age of 14. At the age of 21, he received an Honorary Doctorate degree of Humane Letters from Allen University. This was in recognition of his ingenious economic mind and distinguished commitment to the development of values such as leadership, integrity and scholarship. One of his illustrious elementary teachers “I speak of her sarcastically of course,” told him at the tender age of seven to forget about his dreams of becoming an entrepreneur. She said I couldn't because I was poor and my family was poor," says Gray. Farrah says her attempt to break his spirit made him angry.
In spite of all of those insurmountable obstacles, Gray defied the odds and became a millionaire by the time he was 14-years of age. He sold one of his ventures, Farr-Out Foods, which he started with his grandmother's recipe, for over a million dollars. In his first year, Farr-Out Foods generated more than $1.5 million in sales. Not bad for a kid who lived in poverty, emerged from a broken home and who had a professional discourager working diligently to dismantle his dream of becoming a 21st Century CEO.
