Dr Makaziwe Mandela is chairperson of Nozala Investments (Pty) Ltd and became chairperson of Afripack during 2005. Dr Mandela holds a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Massachussets and started out as a social worker in Transkei.

She has had a full and chequered career that has involved working in several other countries and received a Fullbright Foreign Scholarship and a Fullbright Distinguished Fellowship Award.
