Dave Dravecky has left two indelible images in the minds of baseball fans worldwide. The first was August 10, 1989, when Dave triumphantly pitched a 4-3 win for the San Francisco Giants in his first major-league game following cancer surgery. The second was five days later in Montreal, Canada when a loud crack was heard in the stadium and Dave was suddenly lying on the mound writhing in pain from a broken arm. As Chuck Swindoll writes,
he had delivered the pitch heard around the world.
