
Dr. Northrup is also the author of the New York Times best-selling book, Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom (Bantam, revised 1998), which was #1 on Amazon.com in 1999, has been translated into nine languages, and has sold over 1.2 million copies.
Her work has been featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show, The View, and the Today Show. She has also appeared on Donny & Marie. Her next book, The Wisdom of Menopause: Creating Physical and Emotional Health and Healing During the Change (Bantam, 2001), explores the gifts and challenges of this midlife turning point, during which we have greater potential to create the foundation for a happier and healthier life than ever before. She is also at work on a book that will explore how the mother - daughter bond sets the stage for a woman's health throughout the lifecycle.
Dr. Christiane Northrup received her medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School in 1975; was a cofounder for Women to Women, an innovative healthcare center in Yarmouth, Maine, 1985 - 1996; and was President of the American Holistic Medical Association from 1988 until 1990. She is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Vermont College of Medicine at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine; is Diplomate for the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology; has served on the advisory board for Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine, since 1994; has served on the scientific advisory board for Natural Health Magazine, since 1981; and has maintained her private practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology, in Portland and Yarmouth, Maine since 1979. Dr. Northrup has won such prestigious awards as: the "Teacher of the Year Award" from Tufts Medical School in 1979, the "Sarah Orne Jewett Award" from the Maine Women?s Fund in 1994, and the "1996 Body Mind Spirit Book Award." She also received the OBG Magazine Award 2000 for being "One of 10 Ob/Gyns Who Made A Difference." And Dr. Northrup has received praise from such notables as Bernie Siegel, M.D., Louise L.
