The Capitol Steps, the only group in America that attempts to be funnier than the Congress, is a troupe of former congressional staffers who travel the country satirizing the very people that once employed them. Over the past 20 years, the group has had over 5,000 performances in forty-eight states and produced 23 recordings, their latest being Between Iraq and Hard Place. The Capitol Steps, which now has twenty-two cast members, five of whom are on stage for any one show, perform over 500 shows a year all over the country in addition to appearing on numerous television shows. They have been featured on NBC, ABC, CBS and PBS, and can be heard four times a year on National Public Radio stations nationwide during their Politics Takes a Holiday radio specials. They have performed for many of the targets of their satire, including four Presidents.
